Signature Gardens Townhouse Entry

The situation: An entry townhouse garden for which the client wanted a colorful garden with year-round good looks.
The solution: The small space dictated a disciplined selection of plants to provide color and texture while surviving in the full sun and reflected heat conditions. For the upper level, a single flowering tree is complemented by a boxwood hedge at the foundation (hiding utility links and the raised porch); well-behaved, long blooming perennials provide colorful fill under the tree's canopy. Cascading plants soften the lines of the raised planting area.

A hydrangea tree--with its long season of bloom and winter interest-- is a perfect choice for this limited space. Cascading roses and juniper, perennial geraniums, and lavender provide textural and bloom interest for the lower level of this raised planting area. Within the decorative fencing, boxwood supplies a green backdrop for the perennials and shrubs. The brick parquet echoes the house facade and provides an access point for garden maintenance.
